Matt Otten Jazz Guitar Video

I just ran across a terrific jazz guitar player (from Europe I think) named Matt Otten.  If you are a jazz guitar player you will appreciate the wonderful sounds and playing of this guy.  I would like to hear him really stretch out on some uptempo stuff, but this video encompasses more of the ballad side of the guitar.  If you visit Matt's site, he has some CDs and also a one hour jazz guitar lesson (video I'm assuming) for sale at a very reasonable price.

There seems to be very few really good jazz guitarists around these days.  I guess kids growing up tend to pursue the rock side of the guitar since that's where all the glitter and glamour (at least they think so) of being a "rock star" is.   And let's face it, it is easier to play rock tunes on the guitar then jazz ballads with substitute changes, etc.  I think one of the best guitar solos I've heard are from Jack Wilkins on a live Bob Brookmeyer record (now on CD I think) called Live at Sandy's.  Some amazing jazz guitar playing on some of those cuts.  Bob Brookmeyer ain't too shabby either!

Anyway, take a listen to this guy Matt Otten and if he is anywhere near you playing a gig check him out.
